All about Summoning Scrolls

Thu Mar 23, 2017 5:13 pm

As you might know, there are no dungeons in the Black Desert world. Instead, this game has boss Summon Scrolls.
In this guide I'll be explaining what kinds there are and how to get them.

Image

Basics

All scrolls have several things in common:
  • In order to summon the boss, you must be able to accept a new Quest.
  • If you are unable to defeat the boss, you can attempt to complete the Quest again after joining another adventurer’s party.
  • Another Summon Scroll can’t be used while a boss is present.
  • A party cannot be formed while summoning a boss.
  • Only the party leader can summon the boss.
  • The party leader can’t be delegated if the boss has already been summoned.
  • If you fail to defeat the boss in 30 minutes, it will disappear. The boss will also vanish if not engaged in combat for a span of 2 minutes at any point after being summoned.
  • There’s no penalty for death while fighting the boss.
When you use your Summoning Scroll, and succeed in killing the boss(es), you will get a reward box.
The reward box has a small chance of containing boss armor, accessoires or weapons such as Liverto.

There's different ranks amongst Summoning Scrolls. The higher they are, the harder they get.
If you're inexperenced it's probably a good idea to do these in party, especially when they have a higher rank!

Special Summon Scrolls

The difference between regular and special summon scrolls is that the special summon scrolls summon more bosses to kill, and therefore give you more loot. "Farming" these scrolls is known for people who need more Memory Fragments.

Awakened Scrolls

The difference between regular and awakened scroll is pretty simple.
They require 5x the same kind of Awakened Summon Scroll Piece with (1/D) scrolls, and 3x the same kind when (1/W).

The difference between normal and Awakened scrolls is that the level requirement is higher (lv55+), and the bosses are a lot harder.
The name of the scroll already implies it, but you'll really want an awakened character to do these. They have more damage and aren't as squichy. Prepare to die alot if you don't.

Awakened Summon Scroll rules:
  • There must be at least one quest slot available.
  • If you failed to kill the boss, you can team up with other players to complete the quest.
  • You cannot use another summon scroll when a boss is already summoned in the field.
  • You cannot form a party while summoning the boss.
  • If you are in a party, only the party leader can summon the boss.
  • You cannot delegate the party leader once the boss is summoned.
  • The boss will disappear after 2 minutes of idleness or in 30 minutes after being summoned.
  • You will not be penalized even if you get killed by the boss.
As for rewards, the Awakened scroll bosses have a much higher drop chance than the normal ones. You'll want to farm the Awakened scrolls for your boss gear. Not all bosses can be awakened, nor do you need them to. Not all bosses are interesting enough to awaken anyway.

Eligable Awakened scroll bosses:
  • Dastard Bheg
  • Dim Tree Spirit
  • Giath
  • Hexe Marie
  • Morghulis
  • Muskan
  • Red Nose
  • Saunil Siege Captain
  • Titium
Guild Summon Scrolls

There are different types of Guild Summon Scrolls. They mostly differ in difficulty. This is shown by the guild size between brackets (...) behind the Summon Scroll name:
  • Small Guild: 15 member guild recommended
  • Medium Guild: 20 member guild recommended
  • Large Guild: 25 member guild recommended
  • Extra Large Guild: 30 member guild recommended
Rules for Guild Summon Scrolls are also a little different from the regular scrolls.
  • If a boss is currently summoned, another summoning item can’t be used.
  • A boss can only be summoned by the guild master or guild officers.
  • If you fail to defeat the boss in 30 minutes, it will disappear. The boss will also vanish if not engaged in combat for a span of 2 minutes at any point after being summoned.
  • There’s no penalty for death while fighting the boss.
Guild Summon Scrolls can ONLY be accepted through the Guild leaders.
There are several different quests which can give the scroll you want.

Disclaimer

Most of these scroll information I found in the game itself, but also at BDDataBase and Google.
When not all information is known, this will be labeled as WIP. When I find this information I'll be editing the guide!
More images with boss locations etc will be added later
Since I quit Reliant, you can now find me here and my guides here .
These are also used for my streaming purposes (and of others as well)!

Re: All about Summoning Scrolls

No matter how deep I dig, I can't seem to find where to obtain the the Root Nymph King's Tear. Do you know / have any ideas on where to obtain them?
Nymph Roots don't seem to drop them. I grinded them for about 2 hrs and didn't get anything besides a 1 silver drop.

Edit: My only guess is that it's a extremely rare drop from Nymph Roots sharing the same rate as boss scroll pieces from other mobs, being a 0.05% / 0.005% drop chance.
